India’s leading school education boards are set to gather in Hyderabad from October 29 to 31, 2025, for the 54th Annual Conference of the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE). The national-level event, themed “Future of School Education in India – Challenges and Opportunities,” will focus on assessment reforms, digital learning, and skill-based education.

Hosted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) at its Centre of Excellence, the conference will witness participation from over 70 national and international education boards, including Cambridge Assessment International Education, the International Baccalaureate, and representatives from Bhutan and Nepal.

The three-day event will bring together education leaders, policymakers, and board administrators to deliberate on transforming India’s school education landscape. Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan (check actual name — verify current governor) will inaugurate the conference, while Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, is expected to deliver the valedictory address on October 31.

Dr. G. Immanuel, President of COBSE and Chairman of CISCE, emphasized that the conference underscores collaboration among boards. “When school boards work together, they create shared momentum for reform that defines the nation’s learning future,” he said. He further noted that the ideas emerging from Hyderabad will help shape educational quality and equity across India.

Dr. Joseph Emmanuel, Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE, added that the platform will strengthen cooperation among boards by facilitating the exchange of best practices and developing a unified roadmap for future-ready education.

At a pre-conference press briefing in Hyderabad, Dr. Godwin Daniel, Deputy Secretary of the CISCE Regional Office, said the primary goal of this year’s meeting is to foster shared learning and create a common framework for assessment and innovation across school systems.

The COBSE Annual Conference serves as a crucial dialogue platform for school education stakeholders. With India’s education sector undergoing a major transformation under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), discussions at this event are expected to influence policy directions and implementation strategies for years ahead.

As Education Today continues to engage with national education boards and institutions, our editorial team will provide exclusive coverage, insights, and interviews from the 54th COBSE Annual Conference, highlighting how India’s school boards are preparing for a future driven by innovation, equity, and excellence.

RTC Strike Intensifies in Telangana: College Students & Public Hit Hard

RTC strike disrupts college students and commuters across Telangana, increasing travel costs, absenteeism, and daily hardships amid reduced bus services.

The ongoing RTC strike across Telangana is continuing to disrupt daily life, with its impact now being felt more sharply by college students and the general public. While schools are currently closed due to summer holidays, colleges remain functional—creating a major challenge for thousands of students dependent on public transport.

Protests at depots like Jeedimetla Bus Depot have led to reduced bus services, leaving commuters stranded or forced to seek costly alternatives. College students, especially those traveling from outskirts and rural areas, are struggling to attend classes regularly. Many are either missing lectures or spending significantly more on autos and private transport.

The situation is equally difficult for office-goers and daily wage workers, who rely heavily on RTC buses for affordable commuting. With fares of autos and cabs rising due to demand, the financial burden on common people has increased considerably.

Parents and students are expressing frustration, as there is no uniform relief—schools are shut for holidays, but higher education continues without transport support. This imbalance is adding to stress, attendance issues, and academic disruption.

Amid the unrest, K. P. Vivekanand has backed the RTC workers, criticizing the government’s response and urging immediate resolution of their demands.

Until a solution is reached, it is the everyday commuter—particularly college students—who remain the worst affected in this ongoing deadlock.
