Hyderabad, June 17:
In a bold and forward-looking statement, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu declared the Telangana government’s ambitious vision to transform the state into the “Skill Capital of the Globe.” The minister was speaking at the inauguration of a Mega Job, Skill, and Loan Mela held at PG Law College in Basheerbagh on Monday.

Highlighting the state’s progressive approach, Sridhar Babu emphasized that bridging the gap between academic learning and industry demands is now a top priority. “We’ve identified a visible disconnect between what students are taught and what industries actually require. Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, we are working strategically to fill this gap,” the minister noted.

He pointed out that while Telangana has made substantial progress in education and digital infrastructure, the next crucial step is aligning youth potential with practical, job-ready skills. “Our goal is not just employment, but meaningful employment – where our youth are not just job seekers but industry leaders and innovators,” he added.

The Mega Mela saw participation from various companies, training organizations, and financial institutions offering career opportunities, skill development programs, and loan support for entrepreneurs. The initiative reflects the government’s push to create a robust ecosystem for skill development, employment, and economic empowerment.

Minister Sridhar Babu concluded by reaffirming the state’s commitment to nurturing talent, supporting start-ups, and ensuring Telangana leads not just in IT and infrastructure, but in human capital development at a global level.

RTC Strike Intensifies in Telangana: College Students & Public Hit Hard

RTC strike disrupts college students and commuters across Telangana, increasing travel costs, absenteeism, and daily hardships amid reduced bus services.

The ongoing RTC strike across Telangana is continuing to disrupt daily life, with its impact now being felt more sharply by college students and the general public. While schools are currently closed due to summer holidays, colleges remain functional—creating a major challenge for thousands of students dependent on public transport.

Protests at depots like Jeedimetla Bus Depot have led to reduced bus services, leaving commuters stranded or forced to seek costly alternatives. College students, especially those traveling from outskirts and rural areas, are struggling to attend classes regularly. Many are either missing lectures or spending significantly more on autos and private transport.

The situation is equally difficult for office-goers and daily wage workers, who rely heavily on RTC buses for affordable commuting. With fares of autos and cabs rising due to demand, the financial burden on common people has increased considerably.

Parents and students are expressing frustration, as there is no uniform relief—schools are shut for holidays, but higher education continues without transport support. This imbalance is adding to stress, attendance issues, and academic disruption.

Amid the unrest, K. P. Vivekanand has backed the RTC workers, criticizing the government’s response and urging immediate resolution of their demands.

Until a solution is reached, it is the everyday commuter—particularly college students—who remain the worst affected in this ongoing deadlock.
